The Challenge: Create a product training manual for LeapFrog Interactive's HTML e-mail system.
One of the exciting aspects of my time with LeapFrog, a Louisville-based interactive agency and not the toy company, was the chance to take ownership of a new product they added to their lineup. With other members of the team championing the existing services, I volunteered to take management of this system. Eventually leading to my total focus for the company, my task was to master the system and develop a training manual for internal and client use.
You can download a few example pages here (Created from scans of the manual):
The Result: An effective tool providing detailed training on a complex system and a new sales resource.
After about 2 months of research and work, a nearly 60-page training manual was completed. The document detailed a step-by-step process for using the HTML e-mail system. Starting from the point of login to managing advanced features, the manual proved a valuable training tool and a selling point to clients as an example of product support.
The success of this manual lead to other training manuals being developed for new products. A few manuals were produced for custom systems developed for clients. This training manual received an extensive update only a few months later as a new interface and features were launched. Additionally, few points of humor were added throughout this manual in order to provide a break from what could otherwise be a monotonous read.
