The Challenge: Develop an admissions audit for clients detailing their current admissions process and providing recommendations for improvement.
The Learning House considers its clients to be partners. As a consultant, they seek to assist the universities and colleges utilizing their services in improving their processes to the benefit of both parties. I continue to work with these clients on a daily basis and work alongside others in the marketing department to provide clients with detailed information to improve their programs.
The Result: A valuable tool for improving existing admissions processes.
Many of the clients for The Learning House are smaller institutions without a completely developed process for managing their online admissions efforts. The admissions audit is designed to gain a deeper understanding of their current tactics and to recognize areas for improvement. The example audit details the client's admissions process following an interview with their admissions staff.
The audit begins by emphasizing the need to evaluate the current process against best practices. The primary purpose of any admissions department is to drive enrollment. It is with this in mind that an overall assessment of the client's process was given.
The recommendations that follow the overview are based upon the gaps that appeared in the current process the client was utilizing. While it is acknowledged that not all of the recommendations would be immediately feasible, they are presented with the idea that they could be implemented quickly given appropriate time and funding.
A detailed narrative is given along with a diagram and copy of the interview notes. Each provides a different perspective on the admissions process as it was relayed by the client. This is meant to allow them to visualize their process in three different ways: how the process is perceived by The Learning House, how the process looks mapped out to a diagram, and how they perceive their process.
With these types of audits, the Learning House provides a valuable service to its clients. Some of the recommendations are already being attempted by the client. This example provides a look at a detailed document that respects the client's current efforts while taking the appropriate stance required of a consulting partner.
